Are We Preserving Hawaii’s Resources?

         Hawaii’s resources have been depleting quickly so the citizens of Hawaii have been working tirelessly to save our resources.  But our resources are still vanishing slowly.  We need to stop using all of our resources.  Our state is dying slowly but hopefully we can stop it before it is to late.

         We are trying to save Hawaii by using renewable energy.   Hawaii started to put up renewable energy like and solar panels.  This helps our economy save money and save the o zone layer above Hawaii.  This also helps us because we use less imported oil so money can stay in Hawaii.  We also started to use wind farms.  They put up a wind farm in the Big Island, Maui and on Oahu.  This will save our islands a lot of money because they also plan to put under water cables so people on other islands can get energy.  The renewable is a small portion of what we need to do we need to malama the aina or care for the land.

          There are many groups around Hawaii trying to help the aina (land) so we can live here for a long time.  There is one group that is called Malama Maunaloa they take care of the ocean.  One way they help the ocean by taking out invasive seaweed and plant native seaweed.  There is also the Department of Land and Natural resources.  They help fund projects to help Hawaii stay the same and preserve it.  They also plan projects to preserve our natural and irreplaceable resources.  Its good that there are people trying to savor Hawaii but there are people who don’t.

         Some people don’t try to preserve Hawaii and aren’t changing their destructive life. Some people still use a lot of fossil fuels.  They mainly use fossil fuels for gas. We also use it for oil in our cars.  We some people hurt our community by trashing it.  There are many people who litter Hawaii.  There are also people who graffiti on our buildings and make it look dirty.  From people trashing Hawaii we go to the conclusion.

         In conclusion I think we are preserving Hawaii well but people are still not trying to preserve it.  So it is important that we get more people to preserve Hawaii.
