Position Statement and Mini Essay

Position statements

Tourist deaths at local attractions are the state’s fault because there was a lack of signs posted, they weren’t posted around other potentially hazardous areas, and if there were signs, they weren’t adequately maintained to warn visitors.
The responsibility of the safety of Hawaii’s tourists should not be completely placed on the state of Hawaii and it’s departments, much of the tragic mishaps that occur in hazardous attractions are in large part due to the tourists themselves. Tourists are responsible because; signs have previously been placed in various sights and attractions only to be ignored, the state can not be held responsible for any lack of common sense on the person’s behalf, and it’s impossible for the state to know every hazardous point of every attraction, it’s the tourist’s responsibility to know which points to avoid.
In Hawaii there are many incidents at tourist attractions but both sides are at fault because there are a lack of signs on the governments part, tourists should use common sense, and tourist services like Triple A should have warnings about attractions.
Mini Essay

In Hawaii there are many incidents involving tourists and tourist attractions but both the tourist and the government are wrong because there is a lack of signs, tourist services should have the information and warnings about tourist attraction.  So my position is that they are both at fault because they should both have made more pre cautions.
First the tourist doesn’t have solid case to totally win and the government doesn’t either.  The tourist doesn’t because they aren’t using common sense.  For example one man was dancing around a blowhole when a big wave struck and got sucked in, another incident is an 18 year old boy straddled a blowhole was blasted three to five feet when he fell to his death headfirst onto the rocks.  But the Government isn’t off the hook because they need to take more precautionary measures.  For example at Nakalele point there’s only one sign that warns that it is dangerous and if it is dangerous they should make sure that where the tourist get their information has warnings about it so they are aware.  So that is why I believe that both are wrong.
To sum up if the tourist start to think about the dangers of where they are at and the government starts to think that they should put up more warnings.  Then there would be way less incidents and more people alive.  But until then we will have to deal with tourist not using common sense and the government not having enough warnings up like signs and ads.
